We have said enough times that bohemian is not just a style for your clothes, it is an actual lifestyle that doesn’t have anything to do with trends (although now it’s becoming one). Being a true bohemian is more than dressing in loose vintage clothes. It involves embracing a much simpler meaningful lifestyle through what you live, breathe and eat.

Of course, it’s also not about following an exact guideline or checking on any boxes like a requisite. Truth is, besides the great fashion, there are a lot of things that you can do to consider yourself a boho girl, or even explore a different and more fulfilling lifestyle if that is what you want. Even if you are not sure about the whole idea of being bohemian, there are some ways you can embrace this lifestyle that can bring many benefits to your life.

Less stuff to live better. It sounds really cliché, but the more materialistic we are, the fewer chances there are that we live a happy life. Material things make you worry more and more about what you don’t have, therefore you’re not able to truly appreciate what you do have (either material or not). Think about every time you are packing a suitcase or cleaning your closet and you say that you have too much stuff. Guess what? You do! We all do! Next time you’re in front of that situation, also think about how you have two pairs of the same black pants, or how you have too many sneakers in your collection. Separate them and think about other uses you can give them (to someone in need, for instance). And when you’re in a store and you want to buy something, just think about if you need it twice.

Create! And I mean it! It doesn’t matter if you think you’re not good at it. If you want to write a song, do it. If painting is something you’ve always wanted to do… go for it. Bohemian people are creative minds, and not always for a profit. They find the way to channel their feelings towards the energy that creating gives and make it into beautiful things. Don’t worry about being an artist, you don’t even have to show it to anyone, you can treat it like your personal therapy, it would do wonders for your inner peace.

Embrace the difference. We are all different. And there is nothing wrong with that. On the contrary, one of the best realizations of life comes when you’re finally convinced that you don’t have to fit in a box for people to like you or to be happy. Embracing the difference (and more precisely, your differences), show you that loving yourself is the best path to take, and also teaches you to not judge others. Everyone gets something good out of it!

Eat clean. No, I’m not expecting you to become a vegetarian overnight (if that is a decision you want to make, also remember you can go for it slowly), maybe that life choice is not for you at all. But one perk of being bohemian is engaging on a more conscious state of mind about your health. And yes, your health includes everything from how you live to what you eat. The invitation is for you to evaluate what you eat. Less processed food, including less sugar and additives, and more natural or organic, if possible. For this step, it is useful to start reading the labels of things you buy at the supermarket, and a great tip is cooking more at home! Start doing research on easy and healthier recipes… it could also be your new thing to create!
